The walls of Logan Art Gallery will soon be covered with a series of digital portraits created by Rochedale South artist Yu Chao Do.

Every day for an entire year, Ms Do created a digital painting of a face using her iPad.

Soon those 365 painting will be part of The Neon mugshot file exhibition and among four exhibitions at the gallery from Saturday 27 January to Saturday 1 March.

Also included is the People and Paintings in Places exhibition by Sue Poggioli.

This series features hand-coloured linocuts of imaginary art museum spaces with crowds gathered to view iconic works of art.

Logan’s lifestyle chair, councillor Tony Hall said people could discover some familiar faces among the crowd when looking at Ms Poggioli’s works.

“To create her exhibition, Sue selected works from the Logan Art Collection to create new images featuring City of Logan locals in the crowd,” Cr Hall said.

“A couple of our key gallery staff have a cameo role in some of the art scenes.”

Exhibitions also featured include:

  • Distract/Attend – Jacqueline Scotcher has explored the fast-paced digital lifestyles and shrinking attention span of contemporary life through installation, animation and abstract paintings.
  • Ripple effect: out of Artwaves– The gallery selects outstanding young artists who exhibited in the annual Artwaves secondary schools art exhibition to be mentored to host their own solo exhibition. The 2023 Artwaves Mentorship was jointly awarded to two students and the second recipient was Kiara Costamanga who will now present her works. The other recipient, Laura Pittam, held her exhibition late last year.
