Intersection overhaul

THE intersection of Kingston and Compton Roads is set for a $9.6 million overhaul.

A proposed upgrade includes a new dual right lane from Kingston Road (north and south), an extension to the right-turn lane on Kingston Road (south), and additional bike lanes.

Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick said the upgrade will add capacity for traffic flow and increase safety for drivers and riders at an intersection which sees 33,000 vehicles each day.

“The Kingston and Compton Road intersection is where two of our busiest arterial routes meet, so it’s important we get this right,” he said.

“Design work should be finalised in the coming months and construction is scheduled to start by the end of the year, meaning more local jobs.”

Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman said this project will make our roads are safer for the fast-growing Logan community.

“In addition to this project, construction will begin on the $2 million Kingston Road and Nerang Street intersection upgrade and on the $3.6 million Kingston Road and Juers Street intersection upgrade by the end of the year,” she said.
