A Logan-based cheer and dance club has expanded into a second gym as demand for the sport continues to grow across the city.
Infinity Athletics, which started with just seven athletes in a hired space seven years ago, now has more than 250 members and 12 staff at its Loganholme facility.
Last month, the club opened a second gym – located next door to the original – bringing its total training space to more than 700 square metres.
Owner Lauren Erickson said the move was driven by the increasing popularity of cheerleading, dance, and tumbling among young people and parents alike.
“The opening of our second space, Infinity HQ, means we can now meet the growing demand for classes in a modern and contemporary environment,” she said.
The club now runs classes for all ages, starting as young as three, with adult participants also getting involved in tumbling, pom, hip hop, and cheer.
“We have mums who come along with their kids, joining in to stay active and build friendships with other parents,” Ms Erickson said.
Kinder cheer and dance, which combines multiple disciplines in a single class, has become one of the club’s most popular offerings.
“The kids love it because they get to try everything – cheer, dance, and tumbling – without having to commit to just one style,” she said.
Infinity also runs a semi-competitive program for beginners looking for a taste of competition with less time commitment, including two events per year.
Ms Erickson said part of the club’s success came down to cheerleading’s team-based and inclusive nature.
“There’s a spot for everyone, regardless of ability. Everyone has a role, and that helps kids feel like they’re part of something,” she said.
“We also run an all-abilities team, and the sport itself helps build resilience, teamwork, communication skills, and goal-setting.”
Infinity Athletics will travel to Hawaii in May to compete at the Global Games in Honolulu.
The club offers free trial classes and operates out of Beenleigh Redland Bay Road, Loganholme.
