Since its inception in 2011, I’ve taken great delight in exploring Council’s IGNITE Youth Careers Expo – each year it has evolved and expanded.
When I reflect though, it is astounding how many of the career opportunities available to our youth today were not even thought of 12 years ago.
There are so many booming careers to be explored at Council’s IGNITE Youth Careers Expo being held today (Tuesday, July 18) at the Logan Entertainment Centre.
IGNITE provides an invaluable opportunity for our young residents to explore a diverse range of professions and gain insights into the study paths, apprenticeships, and job opportunities available to them.
With 49 different exhibitors at this year’s expo, including leading Queensland universities, apprentice training groups, and industry associations, attendees will have the chance to interact directly with professionals in various fields.
In addition to the exhibitors, the expo will feature three exciting zones: creative, beauty, and cookery.
These interactive zones will offer hands-on activities such as podcasting, coffee making, and fashion designing, allowing attendees to truly immerse themselves in the experience and gain practical skills.
IGNITE serves as a great platform to highlight the multitude of career and study options available.
It gives students and school leavers the opportunity to explore different career paths showcased at the expo. It really is a gateway to a world of career possibilities.
I’m a firm believer that the youth are the future of our city and Council is committed to supporting them through events such as IGNITE and also through a greater awareness of local job opportunities.
Through the Mayor’s Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce there is a strong focus on enhancing employment opportunities for Logan youth.
We are committed to assisting young people build pathways into meaningful careers.
Career and employment pathways vary for each individual and we want to support our youth in their journey toward a successful and fulfilling future.
