Huge win for Springwood

We’re getting on with the job of building the upgraded M1 and Busway extension to Loganholme with construction of the Rochedale park and ride to start.

Detailed design works have just been finalised for a new bus station at the corner of School and Underwood Roads, and can I say, this project has it all.

A massive 485-space car park and nine accessible parking spaces, kiss ‘n’ ride bays, pedestrian bridge, entry plaza and undercover storage for 30 bikes.

This is a huge win for Springwood locals who will now have convenient and direct access into South Bank and the City, all via public transport.

Buses travelling to and from the new station won’t have to compete with M1 traffic, giving commuters greater reassurance they will arrive on time. You’ll have to think of a new excuse to be late for work.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be holding a series of community drop-in sessions to share the detailed designs with locals. We’d love to hear your feedback.

It’s all, of course, part of the $750 million M1 upgrade between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill jointly funded by the Palaszczuk and Albanese Governments.

We’re upgrading and widening an eight-kilometre stretch to improve connectivity and ease congestion through our growing region.

In another massive win for locals, a further one kilometre of dedicated busway will be built to complete the 6.6km busway extension between Eight Mile Plains and the Springwood bus station.

The busway is already incredibly popular with commuters and will continue to grow as we build on the existing network.

Whether it’s upgrades to local roads or new halls and classrooms in schools or better lighting and clubhouses at sports clubs, there is a record investment in our community to deliver the infrastructure locals want and need.

Nowhere is that more evident than when you drive along the M1.

Keep an eye on my Facebook page for more info, and I look forward to updating you as we deliver a better, safer M1 and busway.
