Hope Stairs: stepping up support

The second phase of a local project aiming to raise awareness about mental health and suicide has been unveiled.

The Hope Stairs at Meadowbrook was first opened in late 2023 and features the inspirational words of locals.

Residents’ messages were painted on the steps to spark hope and help raise awareness of mental health concerns, including suicide.

On 23 October, phase two of The Hope Stairs was officially unveiled with a special candlelight service.

The stairs now include an interactive lightbox featuring recorded messages of hope from the families and loved ones of community members lost to suicide.

The messages are in Samoan and English, Logan’s largest language groups.

This project is the result of ongoing conversations between council and The Solitude Project, a Queensland-based “lived experience” organisation with a history of supporting and promoting good mental health in Logan.
