For Cindy Heinricy, moving into her dream home was an emotional and physical rollercoaster.
The day she was due to take ownership of the three-level home in Eden’s Landing, Mrs Heinricy was diagnosed with a painful and debilitating combination of diseases – Sjogren’s syndrome, Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
“I would stand at the bottom of the stairs and just have tears in my eyes,” Mrs Heinricy said.
Mrs Heinricy, her husband Dean and their two children had no choice but to put the home back on the market and contacted their agent in October 2021.
The Heinricy’s bad luck did not end there.
“We had seven contracts on houses that we had to negate because we couldn’t sell,” Mrs Heinricy said.
They decided to search for a new agent and found one.
Mrs Heinricy is overjoyed with the work of her new agent.
“He has been hugely instrumental,” she said.
The tri-level house has now been purchased by a family new to the Logan area and Mr and Mrs Heinricy have found a new single-level home in Yarrabilba.
Mrs Heinricy is awaiting mental and physical relief.
“We know respite is coming,” she said.
“We’re downsizing hugely.”
But before they can truly relax, they need to find a rental to cover the 20-day gap between moving out and moving in.
“We have animals, otherwise it wouldn’t be an issue.”
The Heinricy family have suffered the harsh realities of the property market, but they are far from discouraged.
“We’ve learned a lot in this time… but you always end up where you’re meant to be,” Mrs Heinricy said.
“Let’s just say that Christmas this year will be looking a lot different to what it did last year.”
