Hollywood spotlight shines on Logan

Keep an eye out for your favourite haunts on the silver screen – Logan City Council is striving to put Logan on the map as a film location.

A council spokesperson said council had “worked with location scouts from Screen Queensland” to promote local destinations.

These included historic buildings across the city including the Beenleigh Rum Distillery, the Red Bridge at Beenleigh, Underwood Park, mountain bike trails at Daisy Hill and the Global Food markets at Logan Central.

In the past five years, 16 film permits were approved by council – not including filming on private property.

Last year, six permits were approved for TV series and documentaries in Stockleigh, Crestmead, Edens Landing, Beenleigh and Underwood.

The spokesperson said council had approved several permits for a variety of reality shows and “supported local students aspiring to get into film production”.

“Film production provides high value jobs for the local community,” the spokesperson said.

“Council will continue to provide support and incentives for film production businesses to establish themselves within the City of Logan.”
