Heated pool give free hour of swimming

Free entry will be available to indoor heated pools at Beenleigh and Logan North Aquatic Centres between noon and 1pm tomorrow.

The one-hour window for free entry is to help celebrate NAIDOC Week which will see a host of events across the city until Sunday.

City pools have a free Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander swimming program – Nyerroolahle (pronounced nyeh-roo-lah-leh) Logan, which is the Yugambeh word for “swim”.

Attendees are invited bring lunch to enjoy together after their free hour in the heated pool.

Free bags containing a water bottle, swim bag, colouring in pencils and educational NAIDOC resources will be available upon entry (while stocks last).

During the NAIDOC event at Beenleigh Aquatic Centre, community feedback will be sought on the proposed upgrade of the centre’s outdoor pool area.

Logan City Council is in the pre-design consultation stage of the project and wants to gather ideas from the community to help guide the design of the new pool and buildings.
