Dozens of early-career health professionals have started work across Logan and Beaudesert hospitals, marking the beginning of their first year on the frontline.
Metro South Health said 45 medical interns have joined the Logan and Beaudesert Health Service in 2026, based at both Logan Hospital and Beaudesert Hospital.
Over the next 12 months, the interns will rotate through general medicine, emergency, surgery and mental health.
The placements are designed to give new doctors supervised, hands-on experience as they decide which specialty to pursue.
They are joined by a new intake of nursing and midwifery graduates, who will also spend the year rotating across different wards and services.
Their placements include birthing suites, paediatrics, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation, renal and transit care, as well as emergency and intensive care.
Nurse educator and graduate coordinator Helen Maney says interest in the program remains strong, with graduates drawn to the opportunity to gain practical experience in a busy health service.
Health services across south-east Queensland rely on annual graduate intakes to bolster the workforce, as hospitals manage growing demand from rapidly expanding communities in Logan and surrounding areas.
