Head-butt lands woman in hospital

A WOMAN has been head-butted and was yesterday in a serious condition in hospital after trying to chase down thieves at Berrinba in the early hours of the morning.

Police said two women aged 42 and 57, were walking back to their parked car on Wayne Goss Drive at around 3.50am, when they saw two men allegedly stealing a black duffel bag from the vehicle.

The men broke the back left window of a blue Ford Falcon to steal the bag, police said.

They said the men were dressed in all black clothing with one wearing a hooded jumper.

A 42-year-old Ebbw Vale woman gave chase, when one of the men stopped and headbutted her, causing her to fall back onto the concrete.

She was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition with a significant head injury.

The unknown offenders left the scene on foot in a southerly direction.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have dashcam vision of the area in the early hours of Monday morning is urged to contact police.
