Plans are in motion that would see a major Logan road upgraded, but it first needs community support.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has proposed upgrading Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road to help cater for future growth in the area.
The community, including residents and local business in the area, have been invited to have their say on the upgrade planning, with feedback to be used to inform future designs.
Initial options include doubling the number of lanes to four, upgrading intersections and improving ‘active’ transport options along the 16.5km road.
Community consultation will run throughout this month, with sessions taking place on 12 and 14 September.
Member for Macalister Melissa McMahon said the road was a key connection for locals.
“I know how much they want to see improvements to this stretch of road,” she said.
”Roads like these ones connect our communities, families, homes and workplaces, so it’s crucial they are safe and user friendly and I won’t stop advocating for that.”
Member for Springwood Mick de Brenni “fixing” the road was great news,
“This project will build on the work we’ve done to enhance safety on Mount Cotton Road and surrounding projects, like the significant M1 upgrades,” he said.
“These upgrades will deliver safe cycling and pedestrian infrastructure for the local community to enjoy which, alongside provisions for new bus stops, will help further address congestion.”
