It might not be as Australian as some other festivals, but Halloween is taking off.
This Halloween, Macarthy Road Childcare will provide a safe space for the local community to trick or treat on Saturday, October 31 from 4pm until 7pm. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in costumes and get into the Halloween spirit safely.
The childcare will transform into a Kids Halloween Spooktacular including a “Haunted House” and trick or treat stalls from local businesses. The event will also feature kid-friendly activities including live music, free face painting, a jumping castle and giant Jenga and Connect 4 games.
The Dagwood Dog Guy, well-known and loved in the local community, will also be in attendance, serving up his famous dagwood dogs and other carnival favourites such as fairy floss, waffles and more.
The event will be a COVID-19 safe event to ensure the safety of the local community. The purpose of the event is for the local children of Marsden and the greater area to have a safe space to trick or treat.
Early Birds Marsden, also known as Macarthy Road Education and Childcare, was the first childcare centre built in the Marsden/Crestmead area in 1987 by the Bird family, who still own and operate the centre today.
Beenleigh Historical Village will have a Spooky Fair from 4.30pm until 8pm on Tuesday October 27.
Cost of entry is $15, and there will be a sausage sizzle, trick or treat trail, games, creepy crafts, frightening face painting and prizes for the best costumes. All is included in the price.
Proceeds go to Junior Quota Beenleigh, a non-profit organisation for high school aged students with an aim to make an impact via active involvement with the local community.
