Halcyon Rise brings to 17-year vision to life

Halcyon Rise has been 17 years in the making for local doctor Bevan Geissmann and solicitor Paul Melville.

And today, three couples will start to enjoy the benefits of the dream.

Foundation homeowners Michael and Karen Stewart, Graham and Debra McGeady and Debbie and Peter Lindsay will be the first to move in.

They’ll see facilities completed around them as the community takes shape.

Halcyon’s joint managing director Dr Geissmann said the milestone was significant for he and Mr Melville who began planning the project in 2004.

“Paul and I were both running our respective medical and law practices and met at a local barbecue where we talked about the issues facing senior Australians and how they deserved to have an active and socially connected community to live in,” Dr Geissmann said.

“That was the start for Halcyon and we created Halcyon Parks in Caloundra so it is very special to be coming back to Logan to open our ninth community in Southeast Queensland.”

New residents, the Stewarts, had been living in Coffs Harbour when they decided to make the move to Halcyon Rise, moving from NSW and renting in Logan Reserve while the house was completed.

“We thought it was time to make the move to a community like this one,” Mr Stewart said. “We’re looking forward to getting involved in lots of activities like bowls, crafts and social events.”

Having spent his career working for Australia Post and being transferred all over Australia, he said they were excited about planting roots in Logan Reserve and being closer to their daughters who live in Ipswich and Merrimac.

New homeowners are expected to be welcomed to their new homes with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a welcome hamper of goodies including locally produced Poppy’s Chocolates, wine, embroidered bathrobes, polo shirts, caps and a camping chair, perfect for sitting around the fire or stargazing.

They’ll be taken by limousine for wine tasting and a gourmet lunch at Cedar Creek Winery in Tamborine Moutain before returning to Halcyon Rise for a street party with future homeowners and other guests.

Enjoying country living while still being conveniently located to the Brisbane CBD, the community has a riverfront location on 100 sprawling acres in the emerging $1.5 billion suburb of Logan Reserve.

The community will be the centre of a $200 million Regional Lifestyle Precinct with co-located approved shops and medical hub, an Arcare aged care facility which is almost complete and a major regional park.

The homes come with 2.4kw solar panels and as standard and are built with materials such as steel frames, Hebel panels, water-saving fixtures and insulation to assist with natural cooling and heating.

The luxury community is the second in Australia (after B by Halcyon in Buderim opened late last year) to have a Tesla car as its shared vehicle.

The community also has UDIA 6–leaf EnviroDevelopment Certification, which makes it easier for the homeowners and potential homeowners to recognise and select more environmentally sustainable developments and lifestyles for the next chapter of their lives.

On completion, Halcyon Rise will have around 300 homes and 20 acres of private open space.

There will be a private homestead themed clubhouse, cinema, bar and dance floor, workshed and craft room, 25m heated resort pool, gym, massage rooms, floodlit bowling green and pickleball courts, barbecue facilities and firepit as well as private walking tracks and off-leash dog park.

Free caravan and boat storage is available for homeowners living in the gated community which will have CCTV and number plate recognition.

Work has also begun on the shared facilities and display homes which have been styled and furnished by renowned interior design company Coco Republic are now open.

A “welcome centre” is open for private tours of the community and display home village, Monday to Saturday 9am-4pm. Prices start from $385,000.
