Ground has broken and first slabs been laid at a new masterplanned community in South Maclean.
The first of 500 homes inside the Flourish community are expected to be complete by mid-2025.
The site’s developer, Cedar Woods, said the community attracted first home buyers starting a new chapter and downsizers creating their forever homes.
First-home-buyer Benjamin Tubb-Hearne said his husband Justin purchased their block in early 2024.
“We thought home ownership was out of reach for us in the current market, but after working with our mortgage broker and Sam from the Flourish sales team, we quickly realised the dream of owning our own home was achievable,” Mr Tubb-Hearne said.
“In a world where rent is going through the roof, to invest in our own future and have a piece of land and a home is exciting.
Alongside more than 500 homes, Flourish will include a new park, playground and a proposed future childcare centre.
Downsizers Kamni Radhika and her husband Kumar will begin building their four-bedroom home in December.
“We chose to build our forever home at Flourish so that we could start our next chapter of retirement in comfort and be part of a friendly, peaceful and clean neighbourhood,” Ms Radhika said.
“We have owned property before but are building for the first time.
She said she was impressed by the masterplan.
“I even recommended the area to a friend, and she has also decided to build a home at Flourish just two streets from us, and we are already planning our neighbourhood walks together after we move in,” she said.
The next stage of development involves building roadways and streetscapes, with registration scheduled for early 2025.
Land prices start at $315,250, and house and land packages at $604,230.
