Fancy yourself a golfer? Well, July is the month to find out with a round with some of the best.
Put your skills to the test at the Lion Richlands 2025 Pro-Am, to be held at the McLeod Country Golf Club on Monday 21 July.
Forest Lake locals have been invited to watch professionals play, at no charge, and follow them as they take on the course at 7am with a shotgun start.
Event organisers say the competition will feature “the best golfers to compete in the order of merit” in the Adidas PGA Pro-Am Series.
This series is a collection of professional golf tournaments held across the country, in which PGA professionals compete in various Pro-Am events.
“These tournaments are integral to the PGA of Australia’s tournament schedule, providing competitive opportunities for professionals and engaging experiences for amateur participants,” an event statement read.
“While the adidas PGA Pro-Am Series does not have a standalone Order of Merit, the performances in these events contribute to the broader PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit standings.
“Points and earnings accumulated through the Adidas PGA Pro-Am Series influence a player’s position in the overall Order of Merit, which is a season-long race determining the tour’s most consistent performer.”
This means spectators can expect a fierce competition.
Defending Champion Lucas Higgins is returning to the local course for this year’s competition after out-hitting 55 other pros in 2024 to earn a six under par (65) win.
Locals looking to have a swing and play game with the pros will need to have an official Golfing Australia handicap.
The competition will feature groups of four, comprised of either one pro and three amateurs, or two pros and two amateurs.
“The good news is that there are a few spots left, and a lunch buffet for golfers is included in the entry fee,” organisers said.
“The public are most welcome to watch the event for free on the day. Don’t forget to bring a hat and sunscreen. Food and drinks can be purchased by spectators on and off the course.”
The cost for club members is $50 and guests are $80.
