Founder and director Giuseppe (Joe) Anapo’s earliest memories are of waking up as the coffee aroma permeated throughout his family’s home from the stop top espresso, then eagerly waiting to share an espresso with his father to start the day.
Since then Giuseppe doesn’t just like coffee, he loves it!
Having over 40 years’ experience in the hospitality industry across numerous areas from 5-star dining to master roaster, his knowledge and passion for all things coffee is extensive.
This is seen in his hands on approach, from personally selecting the best estate grown green coffee beans, creating, testing and analysing then finally roasting award-winning coffees.
The business was born in 2009 roasting in his home garage. In 2010, realising that there wasn’t a coffee roaster in the City of Logan in the Greater Brisbane area, he moved the business to Underwood to a 50sq metre premises on Logan Road.
For family reasons, Giuseppe had to hold in the reins of the business for several years, but as circumstances changed and with the move to Compton Road premises, Simply Beans has grown into a one-stop coffee house, with a buzzing espresso bar, retail shop and wholesale warehouse.
Taking a proactive approach during the uncertainty of 2020, the business took on B7 warehouse, for storage a dedicated tech area, onsite training room and commercial equipment showroom.
The new warehouse also has space for a larger roaster in the near future. The onsite espresso bar was completely refurbished creating better workflow for the staff. This restructure has seen a doubling of clientele and staff.
Simply Beans is proud to be a Logan business and where possible supports local businesses, charities, while providing jobs for the community – 95% of staff living in Logan. We have now partnered with the new PCYC on Kingston Road which is so exciting.
Giuseppe believes he is in the people business – providing exceptional service and knowledge along with an amazing product to both his retail and wholesale clientele.
Being a member of the Logan Chamber of Commerce for many years the Business Distinction Awards are always the highlight of the year.
Simply Beans has won the Retail category in 2018 and 2019, which has helped us cemented our position in Logan. Being nominated is a privilege and being a finalist is humbling. This year we have more to celebrate as three other finalists are part of our wholesale family.
