Free fire ant bait avaliable for residents

West Logan residents can head to state MP Linus Power’s office to collect free fire ant treatment.

Mr Power announced locals could simply visit his office – 1-3 Helen Street Hillcrest – to pick up the bait.

“We all have to work together to fight fire ants in Logan,” he said online.

“That’s why I’m working with the National Fire Ant Eradication Program to provide free fire ant bait to Logan residents.

“Let’s stick together and fight fire ants.”

All Logan residents can receive free treatment kits via mail by visiting this link:

Logan City Council has in the past said it would like to provide residents with free fire ant treatment, but it needs funding assistance to do so.

Just recently, in a submission to a federal enquiry, council claimed defence against the destructive fire ant could cost ratepayers up to $10 million over the next decade.
