Free Advance Care Planning support

Logan residents can access free advance care planning (ACP) advice and support at the Beenleigh and Browns Plains health centres.

The clinics, hosted by the Metro South Health ACP Service team, will enable locals to learn more about ACP and receive support to complete necessary documents.

Nurse Unit Manager of the Metro South Health ACP Service team, Christine Duncan, said ACP helps people plan their health care in advance by sharing their personal values, goals and health care preferences.

“ACP conversations and documents allow health care preferences to be known and shared and are used in situations where a person is unable to communicate their wishes for themselves,” Ms Duncan said.

“This means loved ones won’t have to make difficult health care decisions in a crisis situation on a person’s behalf without knowing what the person would have wanted.”

Dates to access the ACP clinics are:

Beenleigh Community Health Centre – 6 February, 5 March, 2 April, 7 May, 4 June and 2 July

Browns Plains Community Health Centre – 16 January, 20 February, 19 March, 16 April, 21 May and 18 June.
