Free 16-week aged care, disability support course

AGED care has been identified along with disability care as an area of significant jobs growth, and the Kingston East Neighbourhood Group will be offering Logan locals an opportunity to gain qualifications at no cost.

According to the National Skills Commission, jobs growth in the sector was expected to reach 24.7% by 2025.

The centre will offer a 16-week Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) free of charge to eligible participants, as part of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.

The next course commences Mid-May and is currently registering students to take part.

This course can lead to career pathways like aged care worker, disability support worker, home and community care worker, in-home carer and hospital AIN.

Support is provided by KENG to help residents get into/back into the workforce and gain the practical skills and experience needed to transition into a career in aged care or disability support.

The program also includes job preparation and employability skills, 120 hours work placement experience, police check, blue card, first aid & CPR training to help get your new career started.

Eligibility criteria includes:

  • Queensland residents aged 18 years or older
  • Have not previously completed a Skilling Queenslanders for Work course
  • Ineligible for Australian government employment services or assistance OR have accessed Australian Government services for more than six months and remain unemployed.
