Five weekend markets worth a look

The humble weekend market continues to wave the flag for good old-fashioned weekend fun.

And there are some good ones around the Logan region:

Beenleigh

The Beenleigh Sunday markets are at the Showgrounds in James St every Sunday (except September 13 and 20), from 6am until noon. Social distancing and hygiene rules are in place, and no food or drinks are being sold – except of course for fresh produce.

Woodridge

Every Sunday, Station Rd comes alive. If you’re a fan of Thailand, this is the place to pick up some authentic noodles or other street food delicacies. If you haven’t had deep fried bananas, do yourself a favour and hunt them down. There is also fresh produce.

Logan Village

On the first Sunday of every month, the Logan Country Chamber of Commerce presents the Logan Regional Producers Market. There are gifts, craft, fruit and veg, local services, handmade items, jams and honey, and facepainting. The Logan Village Lions’ breakfast sausages are a treat.

Yarrabilba

Mingle Markets at Darlington Drive, Yarrabilba, is one of the only evening markets in the region, with market stalls, food vendors and children’s activities. It’s on the second Friday of the month, from 5pm-9pm.

Logan Recycling Market

This one’s a bit left-field because it’s not a weekend-only affair. Logan Recycling Market at 41 Recycle Way, Heritage Park, is run by the council and operates as a refuge for stuff people would otherwise have dumped at one of the tips. If you find something you like, some of the money goes to charity.
