Elderly couple seriously injured in Eagleby crash

An elderly couple suffered life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision in Eagleby on Saturday.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, four people all from Eagleby were hospitalised following the River Hills Road crash.

Police, who are now investigating the collision, said it occurred at around 11.45pm.

A 79-year-old man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening leg and head injuries.

A 78-year-old woman was also taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A Metro South Health spokesperson has since confirmed both patients remain in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit at PA Hospital.

A 51-year-old female driver and 37-year-old male passenger in the other car were taken to Logan Hospital as a precaution.

“If anyone witness the incident or has relevant dashcam visions is urged to contact police,” police said in a statement.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
