A WHOPPING 20 people were charged in one day as part of an investigation police claim “decimated” a local drug gang known as ‘KTM’.
In total, 41 people were charged and 25 properties raided across Hillcrest, Woodridge, Logan Reserve and other suburbs also spanning south Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The investigation was headed by the Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad, with help from the money laundering, Gold Coast and Brisbane police units.
Acting detective superintendent Craig Bowman alleged police “decimated a well-established crime gang known for its history of public acts of violence, and large-scale drug trafficking”.
“This group has been a source of immense harm, and victimisation of our community,” he alleged.
“Their criminal activities have, without a doubt, exploited our most vulnerable with far reaching consequences including contributing to volume crime within our communities.
“The Organised Crime Gangs group is committed to using all of the specialist resources and capabilities afforded to us, to target these groups at their core and hold them accountable for misery they cause, and play our part in delivering safer communities.”
During the searches, police allege to have found two methylamphetamine drug labs and large amounts of cash and dangerous drugs, including cocaine, methylamphetamine and cannabis.
Officers also seized eight vehicles, including four Mercedes Benz and a Range Rover SUV. Police alleged the vehicles were purchased with suspected proceeds of crime.
The 41 accused have been charged with almost 270 trafficking, supply and possession of dangerous drugs and weapons offences.
On Friday, police revealed at least eight men from Logan, including:
– a 23-year-old Hillcrest man, charged with multiple drug trafficking and possession, and tainted property offences;
– a 22-year-old Woodridge man, charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking and supplying offences, and possession of tainted property;
– a 23-year-old Underwood man, charged with one count of drug trafficking and tainted property;
– a 24-year-old Underwood man, charged with one count each of drug trafficking and possession, and seven counts of supplying;
– a 24-year-old Underwood man, charged with one count of drug trafficking and tainted property, and two counts of drug possession;
– A 20-year-old Woodridge man, charged with once count of trafficking, and nine counts of supplying;
– a 20-year-old Hillcrest man, charged with two counts of drug possession; and,
– a 29-year-old Hillcrest man.. charged with six counts of drug possession.
