Driving, weapons charges at Eagleby

A 32-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with multiple dangerous driving and weapons offences after he allegedly attempted to evade police at Logan on Wednesday, April 6.

It is alleged around 10.20am, police saw the motorcyclist with no plates acting suspiciously on Monmouth Street, Eagleby before activating their lights to signal him to pull over.

The rider then allegedly rode off and did not stop for the officers, before losing control of his motorbike on Fryar Road, mounting a curb and nature strip near the intersection of Monmouth Street.

The bike continued into a garden bed at a community hall and the rider was thrown over the handlebars.

Following the crash, officers located a revolver handgun and 12 rounds of ammunition allegedly in his possession.

The man has since been charged with Fail to comply with requirement to stop private vehicle, Dangerous operation of a vehicle, Unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R weapon – short firearm in public, Authority required to possess explosives and Fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe.

He has been remanded in custody and will next appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 12.
