Dolly, John, and Freddy takeover Logan

The next three months at the Logan Entertainment Centre (LEC) are full of excitement, with Dolly Parton, John Lennon and Freddy Mercury impersonators all taking the stage.

And the Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) agenda is just as jam packed, with music, dance and comedy shows planned.

Locals can kick-off the 2024 entertainment season with a celebration of Waitangi Day at the KBF – the national day of New Zealand.

Waitangi at Twilight will feature a full program of events, including cultural songs and dances, live entertainment, activities and food stalls.

The cultural festival is free and will be held at the KBF outdoor stage on Tuesday 6 February.

Locals can then take a comedic turn at LEC on Saturday 10 February with ‘Sista Flo 2.0′, a one-woman show by Nurse Georgie Carroll from Britain’s Got Talent.

Audiences have been told they’ll “laugh, cry and even gasp”.

Also treating locals this February is a performance by local country musician Jarrad Wrigley.

On Friday 16 February, the Greenbank-raised musician and his newly formed band Jarrad Wrigley and the Wrebels will take to the stage at KBF to perform his country setlist.

The 2024 March lineup begins with LEC audiences travelling back in time to the 60s with The Beatles’ Rooftop Concert tribute show.

Australian rock band The Honey Sliders are performing the setlist from The Beatles’ famous Apple headquarters rooftop show on Saturday 2 March.

The musicians have added a few extra hits and rarities from The Beatles’ catalogue, and it will all be performed in front of a movie production.

Seven days later, Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke is bringing her ‘Catching Diamonds’ tour to Logan with a performance at LEC.

A Dolly Parton authorised impersonater, Kelly O’Brien, is then gracing the LEC stage with two performances of the Dolly Show.

Ms O’Brien has repeatedly been voted the U.K’s best Dolly Parton impersonator, and even got the nod of approval from Dolly herself.

Throughout the rest of March, Logan audiences can watch a performance by legendary South African duo Nataniël and Karen Zoid at the LEC (Saturday 23), and a KBF comedy show featuring Aussie comedians Craig Quartermaine, Ting Lim, Anisa Nandaula and Sami Shah (Saturday 23).

April starts with a circus show for families called ‘The Garden Party’, involving two “bees” working their way through a range of acrobatics, dance, magic, and live music (Thursday 4).

On Friday 12 April a concert showcasing the best musical hits from across the globe, ‘World of Musicals’, will be on at LEC.

The show will feature songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Guys & Dolls and many more.

The final show in April is a Queen tribute act – ‘Bohemian Rhapsody: Made in Heaven Tour’ – at the LEC.

On Saturday 27, Freddy Mercury impersonator Thomas Crane is taking on the band’s iconic hits, including Somebody to Love, Another One Bites the Dust, Don’t Stop Me Now, and, of course, Bohemian Rhapsody.
