A new not-for-profit dedicated to tackling social isolation in Logan has opened its doors at the revitalised Caddies Community Centre, promising fresh hope and connection for the community’s most vulnerable.
Cuppa Plus has launched the Emergency Relief Program and the Staying Connected initiative to support older individuals.
Cuppa Plus volunteer operations coordinator Rachelle Williams hopes the program will ease the week-to-week struggles for locals.
“We will be providing food and fuel vouchers to those in the community of Logan and the Scenic Rim who are on low wages and having difficulty paying essential bills,” she said.
In addition to financial support, Cuppa Plus aims to combat social isolation through its Staying Connected program.
Volunteers will make weekly phone calls to individuals who are housebound or unable to get out regularly.
“We are on the lookout for people who would be interested in getting a phone call each week and having a chat,” Ms Williams said.
Residents who know someone who might benefit from the Staying Connected program can refer them by contacting 0494 438 643 or emailing cuppaplus@gmail.com.
Emergency Relief Program eligible individuals can book appointments by calling 0494 349 518 or emailing er.cuppaplus@gmail.com.
