A local couple has claimed their $580,000 Lotto prize two weeks following the draw after they forgot to check their ticket.
The Jimboomba duo held one of 17 division-one-winning entries in the country.
The winning tickets were drawn on 11 January.
But it wasn’t until the 23 January that the couple claimed the prize.
“We didn’t check it right away because every time we’d go to the shops, we’d forget our ticket in the car,” the husband said.
“Finally, we remembered yesterday and that’s when we realised we had won division one.”
He said his daughter began jumping up and down in excitement, while his wife was just shaking.
“She’s still shaking this morning.
“I couldn’t even eat dinner last night. We’re so excited and it’s a huge help.”
He said he couldn’t believe how much their family had won.
“It’s going to set us up and we’re even thinking we’ll go on a holiday next year,” he said.
“Funnily enough, I almost didn’t get the ticket. I bought it just before the outlet closed.
“I don’t play every week but usually every fortnight, and my wife kept reminding me to go get it, and luckily, I did.”
