Cornubia ambition leads to Loganholme oasis

Former Loganholme resident Adrian Daynes said he was always captivated by the lifestyle in Cornubia.

But after a long search for his dream home, he decided to stop looking.

Instead, over the last year he set out to transform his own Loganholme property on Clarks Road into an “oasis”.

“It has an oasis backyard, so totally private, and a heated or chilled pool so in the summer time you can chill the water and in the winter it will heat up to 40 degrees like a hot spa,” he said.

“It has an outdoor kitchen and a fridge, all plumbed in, a six burner barbeque, and a gas heater that is built in.”

The inside of the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house has also been refurbished.

“There is a new bathroom, new kitchen, granite benchtops, Billi hot water and cold water despenser, a big Smeg gas oven,” Mr Daynes said.

The block also features solar panels, a 7m by 3.8m shed, and security cameras.

Mr Daynes said he wasn’t upgrading the house to sell it.

But that all changed when he and his partner fell in love with a house in Cornubia.

“At my age, I didn’t really want to move again,” he said.

“But we have always had this fascination with living in Cornubia – my partner’s mum is in Cornubia, sister is in Cornubia, and two kids live in Loganholme so it is all close to family.

“It is beautiful, up in the forest.”

The property Mr Daynes bought is tucked away in one of Cornubia’s most exclusive estates, home to CEOs, businessmen, doctors, builders and even a police helicopter pilot.

The Forest Edge Drive block was earlier in the year in the running for Master Builders Australia’s house of the year award.

So Mr Daynes, who is a real estate agent, sold his Loganholme property to a “lovely young couple” for $1.1 million, which he said was “above the norm”.

Mr Daynes said while the Clarks Road block is a standard 600sqm, the oasis backyard set it apart.

He said the entire suburb of Loganholme was a “great place to live”.

“It has really come alive,” he said.

“It is catching up to Shailer Park, Rochedale, Rochedale South – Loganholme is this lovely suburb that is now coming alive.”

He said the suburb was inching closer to the sale records of Shailer Park, where the mid price for houses has hit $1 million.
