Construction on Greenbank Road to begin in late July

The long-awaited reconstruction of Greenbank Road is set to commence in late July 2024.

This project, aimed at repairing and upgrading the road and drainage network, comes in response to the extensive damage caused by the major rain event of 2022.

Approximately 1.4 kilometres of Greenbank Road will be upgraded, spanning from Andalusain Drive to just north of Scott Lane.

The upgrades will result in a smoother road surface, wider lanes and shoulders, and enhanced flood resilience to ensure continuous accessibility.

The primary components of the project include raising the road in specific sections to improve flood resilience, widening lanes and constructing broader shoulders, reconstructing the road pavement and carrying out excavation works in some areas, enhancing drainage systems, and removing vegetation and clearing trees within the Council Road reserve where necessary.

Alder Constructions has been appointed as the contractor responsible for executing these works.

The main construction activities are slated to begin in late July 2024, with an expected completion date in December 2024, depending on site and weather conditions.

Work will typically take place Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Residents and commuters should anticipate changed traffic conditions, including reduced speed limits, short-term lane closures, and detours as necessary.
