Congratulations, MyCity Logan

Call me old fashioned but I like the idea of getting my news from a respected media stream rather than social media.

I also like to read a physical newspaper – something that has become a rarity in the modern media world.

Unfortunately, with the changing media landscape we have seen the local papers slowly disappear.

This week sees the 100th edition of MyCity Logan and I want to congratulate the team on taking the leap of producing a print publication at a time when others are moving away from the traditional medium.

Over the years we’ve seen the decline of print publication in the City of Logan. Unfortunately, a lot of localised news is now limited to those who pay for some form of online subscription.

It is important to have media diversity and MyCity Logan has established a publication that has a focus on delivering news relevant to the community, which they can get for free.

I would like to congratulate all the team who have taken on the challenge and to deliver a free local newspaper relevant to the local community.

I’d like to think like all trends print will be back in Vogue one day but perhaps that is wishful thinking on my part!
