Confirmed: Logan local named kindest person in Australia

Local charity-owner Tammy Robinson-Heynatz has been named the kindest person in Australia.

“I keep waiting for them to say ‘wait, we made a mistake’,” Ms Robinson-Heynatz said after being awarded the title.

“But I am super honoured.”

The Beenleigh local is known around town as the brains behind Formally Ever After, which has provided free formalwear to people all over Australia since it began from her home in 2019.

Whether it’s graduating high schoolers who can’t afford a dress for their Year 12 formal, or a bride and groom struggling with the cost of living – Ms Robinson-Heynatz has saved the day for almost 10,000 Australians.

“Life has not always been easy, and some days life is still hard. But I just keep getting up no matter what – trying spread the kindness and love,” she said.

Now Ms Robinson-Heynatz is being recognised for her efforts.

She was selected as the Queensland finalist from hundreds of nominations nationwide last month, before being voted by the public as the state’s kindest person.

A judging panel made up of previous winners today announced Ms Robinson-Heynatz as the nation’s kindest.

As a prize, $5000 will be donated to two organisations of Ms Robinson-Heynatz’s choice – Nightlight and the Bethania Community Centre.

“Nightlight for their incredible, never-ending work to support those who need that extra love and hope – not only people who are homeless but families doing it tough,” she said.

“Plus Bethania Community Centre, as they are awesome in their community work, providing a space where everyone belongs.

“We are doing Christmas hampers together so I’m pretty sure their share of the money is going towards our hampers to help families.”
