Christmas Day hero in one alleged car-jacking, children taken in another

A man has emerged a hero after an alleged car-jacking at Beenleigh on Christmas Day.

But while one woman was left with her car in a foiled attempt, another was left fearing for the safety of her two children.

The children were in the back of a car allegedly stolen from a service station, found two suburbs away in Cornubia.

The children and two 26-year-old women were unharmed in the two separate car-jacking attempts.

A woman, 20, has been charged with armed robbery with violence.

Police allege at around 4.45pm on December 25 a man approached a Mazda CX-5 at a service station on City Road where he assaulted a 26-year-old woman and attempted to steal her car.

A passer-by intervened and the man left empty handed.

A short time later it is alleged the man approached a parked Nissan Pathfinder at another service station on City Road and entered the vehicle.

Another 26-year-old female passenger exited the vehicle and the man allegedly drove off with two young children seated in the back.

The two children were located unharmed at a service station in Cornubia shortly after.

Both women sustained minor injuries in the incidents.

A 20-year-old woman from Holmview has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts each of unlawful entry of vehicle for committing indictable offence used/threatened violence and stealing, three counts each of unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, common assault, possessing a dangerous drug and five counts each of receiving tainted property and fraud.

She is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 25, 2024.

Police are continuing to search for a man in relation to the incident.
