Works are due to begin in a few weeks on an intersection upgrade for Beenleigh–Redland Bay Road and Riedel Road at Carbrook.
The intersection will soon feature a left-hand turn for motorists turning onto Riedel Road.
Designs for the upgrade came from community feedback regarding the right-hand turn that was recently installed.
The intersection is close to the Riedel Road boat ramp, and is regularly used by motorists towing boats from either direction.
Member for Macalister, Melissa McMahon, said the upgrades will boost motorist safety at the intersection.
“Following completion of the intersection works, residents asked us to consider further improvements,” she said.
“I am happy to announce we begin construction this month on the left-turn lane, further reducing the possibility of rear-end collisions.
“Road safety is a top priority for the Palaszczuk Government, that’s why the current budget delivers more than $1.5 billion towards targeted road safety initiatives.”
