The City of Logan is looking for our fastest, strongest and most skilled athletes to be part of the sports awards in October.
Nominations for the awards opened last week.
It’s the first time in two years the event has been held, after being cancelled last year.
Professional soccer player Claire Polkinghorne was 2019 sportswoman award winner and has again been named to play in the Matildas squad for the Tokyo Olympics.
Other past winners include rugby league international and former Bronco Corey Parker, Supercars driver Chad Mostert, world junior champion decathlete Ashley Moloney, boxer Clay Waterman and Korean sword sport (haidong gumdo) prodigy Tara Billington.
City lifestyle chair Laurie Koranski said the awards were an important tradition.
“It is an honour to host our city’s elite athletes and sportspeople at our annual sports awards,” Cr Koranski said.
“Our sporting stars are an inspiration and it is so important to recognise their outstanding achievements.
“I urge anyone who knows someone who has excelled in their sporting field in the last year to nominate them for consideration.”
