Cabins, nets and bridges: Time to play Eagleby-style

The young and young-at-heart will be able to brave a 20m flying fox when they next visit Eagleby’s Albert River Park.

The riverfront park has been given a facelift, and now includes new play equipment.

A multi-level playground features cabins, nets, bridges, ladders and slides.

And there’s an outdoor ping pong table.

The area is dotted with modern outdoor furniture on concreted areas that have been painted to look like picnic rugs.

Shade sails cover most of the playground while the park is monitored 24/7 by a Council safety camera.

City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Koranski said the park upgrade had been designed with families in mind.

“This innovative new playground will provide endless hours of entertaining and engaging fun for children of all ages,” Cr Koranski said.

“And the nearby seating and terraced landscaping allows parents and carers to relax while they watch their children play.”

Division 12 Councillor Karen Murphy said existing facilities in the park had been revitalised as part of the upgrade.

The skate bowl has been repainted with a bright multi-coloured geometric pattern while the existing playground in the park has also had a makeover to tie in with the colourful new equipment.

“To get a fun and free adventure playground, flying fox and picnic facilities like this is a huge boost for the local community,” Cr Murphy said.

“This park has always been a favourite among Eagleby residents and now they have a bright new facility to enjoy and to be proud of.”
