It’s time to celebrate the best businesses in Logan.
And you’ll be the ones to decide who gets nominated.
The Logan Chamber of Commerce hosts the Business Distinction Awards to showcase the best our region has to offer.
“The business awards was originally started by the Logan Chamber of Commerce over 35 years ago,” chamber president Stewart Fleming said.
“It has a tradition of being a night of nights on the Logan business and social calendar, and will this year culminate in an awards ceremony at Distillery Road on August 19. It’s an awesome venue and promises to be a fantastic event.”
But that’s three months away. First, you – the people of Logan – will be a chance to nominate the business who consistently helps you.
It might be where you get petrol, where you shop, the tradie who fixed something at your house, a service agency who helped you out in a time of need, or a charity organisation. It might be your employer!
This year, there will be 17 separate categories to be featured by MyCity Logan in coming weeks.
There will also be five special major awards – “new or emerging business”, “sustainability”, “innovation”, “community contribution”, “inclusiveness” and “business of the year”.
Historically, the Business Achiever Awards were so successful at highlighting successful businesses in Logan that the Quest News Group utilised the model across Queensland for many years, Mr Fleming said.
In 2012, the Logan Chamber of Commerce reinstated the awards and from 2018 The Logan Business Distinction Awards has been hosted with the support of the Beenleigh-Yatala Chamber of Commerce and the Logan Country Chamber of Commerce.
“Together, we created a gala event like no other in the city,” Mr Fleming said.
“In 2019, it grew even bigger with more nominations. Then Covid-19 hit and the 2020 Logan Business Distinction Awards were cancelled.
“2021 was another challenging year but with restrictions lifting and a new normal being defined, we celebrated Logan’s best businesses at the Beenleigh Events Centre. This year Munster Group was awarded the Logan Business of the Year award.”
Nominations are already being accepted at loganbusinessawards.com.au and will remain open until July 1.
Simply nominate a business you love and they’ll be surprised with news of their pending nomination.
You can also post your nomination to MyCity Logan via PO Box 115, Waterford 4133. Or you can text it to 0477 316 892 and we’ll be sure to pass it on to the award organisers.
Recognition is important for small businesses, so when you put a business name up for an award, it not only means the world to them – it puts them in a position to let others in Logan know that they’re a brand people can trust.
