The 2022-23 Queensland Budget is about good jobs, better services, and maximising the great lifestyle Queenslanders love.
It’s a strong Labor budget that puts people first.
And it’s a budget that holds plenty of good news for the City of Logan.
From education and healthcare to transport infrastructure and employment, it invests in our needs, right now and for the future.
We’re getting to work designing a brand new hall for Browns Plains State High School, and expanding Woodridge State High’s school hall.
We’re building a new FamilyLinQ building at Kingston State School, refurbishing facilities at Burrowes State School, and introducing additional classrooms at Marsden State School.
These projects and so many others form part of a $183.9 million investment in new and improved school infrastructure right across Logan.
Our government is also pleased to be putting $3 billion into local hospital and health services for our growing community.
Since being elected we’ve added 524 extra teachers and 509 extra nurses in Logan, and we’ll keep working to build on those numbers further.
This budget will ensure we keep giving Logan residents the best possible care, through every stage of life.
We’re also better connecting our community with wide-reaching road and transport improvements as part of an $815.4 million infrastructure package.
This includes ongoing funding for our $750 million Pacific Motorway upgrade project between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill, delivered in partnership with the Albanese federal government.
We’re upgrading Logan City Netball’s courts with a $638,000 spend this coming financial year.
And we’re keeping our successful job-creating programs going like Skilling Queenslanders for Work, which generate life-changing outcomes through local groups such as Multilink, Access Community Services and ADRA.
$45.7 million will go towards increasing and improving our social housing supply, and we’re putting tens of millions into ongoing flood recovery.
We’re also investing in digital connectivity, much-loved local recreation areas such as Daisy Hill and the Logan Riverine Discovery Centre, and the conservation of our koala population.
Like I said, this is a budget squarely focused on three key pillars: jobs, services, lifestyle.
It’s a budget that invests in the great people of Logan and our golden decade ahead.
