Nigel Clifton says he might “sound a bit Pommy” when he answers the phone to provide a quote.
But he guarantees that there’s “that Aussie twinkle in my eye” that will win people over.
Nigel, of NJ Clifton Carpentry, is a licensed carpenter with more than 35 years experience.
He started his career refurbishing British-listed homes with a small, vibrant Italian family firm.
“They taught me a lot with regards to traditional carpentry skills not many people possess in modern times,” he says.
From there, he worked in teams on many large West London hotels.
It was a big shift to Australia, and for the past 17 years he’s been working as a sole trader in the Logan community.
“My lifestyle has changed dramatically,” he says.
“I like to give my customers a sense of trust and dependability which has kept me in good stead over the years, so much so that previous customers kept me in work through Covid last year, which I am truly thankful for.”
Nigel and partner Sue run the business.
