Breaking: Police charge Belivah man with murder

Police have charged a Belivah man, 38, with two counts of murder after a woman, 37, and her 11-month-old daughter were allegedly found dead at a Belivah Road property on 12 March.

Police confirmed the alleged murders were domestic violence-related.

Police said they believed the three were a family unit and were living together at the Belivah Road address at the time of the incident.

What happened?

At around 7.30am, on 12 March, police responded to reports that a man had been hit by a car outside a supermarket on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn.

Detective Superintendent Christopher Ahearn told the media that the man also had a visible injury, consistent with an “edged weapon” to his neck.

Police allege that the man had run to the Bannockburn supermarket from the Belivah Road address.

When police attended the Belivah Road property to notify the man’s family that he had been hit by a car, they discovered the bodies of the woman and child, police allege.

Two crime scenes were established, Mr Ahearn said, one at the Belivah Road property, the other on Beadesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn.

The man, who has now been arrested, continues to receive medical treatment in Princess Alexandra Hospital and is expected to appear via video link at Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police said their investigations were ongoing.

Hundreds of people gathered in Sunridge Park in Bahrs Scrub on Friday, 13 March to lay flowers, light candles, and remember the lives of the Belivah woman, a local primary school teacher, and her daughter.
