BOQ (Bank of Queensland) Jimboomba has taken out top prize in the financial services category at the 2022 Business Distinction Awards.

Owner Manager of BOQ Jimboomba, Aaron Todd said he was surprised by the win.

“I believe we were nominated by RebelFM and then we were one of three finalists, which was amazing in itself,” he said.

“When we went to the awards night and it was announced, I was so surprised that we won. It was just great!”

“Thank you to RebelFM and to everyone that has supported us through this.”

Mr Todd said community involvement is what makes BOQ Jimboomba different to other banks.

“The biggest difference is the community aspect; we are super involved in the community and sponsor a lot of local sports clubs and events,” he said.

“We are building a real presence within the community here in Jimboomba.”

BOQ Jimboomba sponsor the Jimboomba Redbacks AFC (AFL), Jimboomba United Football Club, Flagstone Netball, as well as Pink Stumps Cricket events and other various community events each year.

“They are all great causes and it’s nice to be able to help out the community where we can,” Mr Todd said.

Aaron Todd has been working with the Bank of Queensland for over 16 years and in 2019 he decided to purchase his own branch at Jimboomba.

“Successful banking to me is about identifying and fulfilling customer’s needs, in turn building long term relationships,” he said.

“I have a background in customer service, so I made sure that was at the forefront of our branch. We allow people to call our branch directly and we always make sure we get to the calls as soon as possible. I don’t like the idea of people having to call a 1300 number for things we can help them with here.”

“I also like the idea of having bank tellers available, where possible, when you walk and not have to wait in line for a long time for someone to help you. It’s all the personal touches that make people feel welcome.”

Mr Todd said in future he would love to see the branch grow.

“We recently had a new fit out and relocated, in the same Centre but to a new office, so we’ve invested a lot into freshening up the place and improving our space,” he said.

“I’m not planning on going anywhere, we want to keep growing and keep building relationships with our community.”

“We’ve built a fantastic, experienced team at Jimboomba to assist you with any banking enquiries.”
