Belivah roadworks comes to an end

IMPROVEMENTS to a stretch of Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road at Belivah have been finished.

Work on the $10 million stretch of road started in August last year and was designed to boost flood resilience.

More than 100 new culverts were installed along the road to boost the drainage system during wet weather.

Wider shoulders are also providing more space for bike riders, and the wide centre line has created better separation with oncoming vehicles, reducing the risk of crashes.

Logan MP Linus Power said Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road was a vital local arterial road.

“We know locals, tourists and transport and freight users use the route,” Mr Power said.

“Keeping it open and accessible after heavy rain, and better able to withstand weather events was a key focus of this project.”

Macalister MP Melissa McMahon said la nina periods in 2021-22 spread a lot of water over the road, impacting those who rely on it.

“One of the interesting features of this project is the outcome for fauna,” Ms McMahon said.

“With fish baffles built within the new Belivah Creek culvert which highlights our efforts to protect wildlife when delivering for Queensland motorists.”
