A Beenleigh woman has won the top prize on a scratchy ticket – $150,000.
The lucky winner said she thought “it was a joke at first”.
“It’s so exciting. I was at the local news agency at Beenleigh Marketplace, and I thought I’d buy a couple of the Crossword scratchies because they’re my favourite,” she said.
“I just enjoy scratching them and I never expect to win anything big – I had sat down to enjoy a cuppa and my scratchies.
“Lo and behold, $150,000 came up – I seriously thought someone was playing a trick on me and I nearly spilt my tea.”
She said there had been no celebrations “as of yet”.
“I’m just letting it sink in,” she said.
“I’d love to fix my car, it has a few mechanical faults.
“But for now, I’ll sit on the win and process it all.”
A staff member from the news agency who sold the winning ticket said she was thrilled that Beenleigh Marketplace had sold a top prize-winning entry.
