Beenleigh serves up deluxe duplex delight

Beenleigh is breaking away from its perceived “cookie-cutter” stereotype and emerging as a destination of choice for those seeking a “high-quality product”, a local agent has said.

Sales agent at The Property Hub in Beenleigh, Karl Botha said recent developments, such as two duplexes on 20 George Street, were attracting new clientele to the area.

He said each of the two duplexes were of a high quality and bigger than the average home.

“It’s 247sqm each side, with full-sized kitchens, walk-in pantries, high ceilings – the builders really had the foresight to think that Beenleigh is not just this cookie-cutter entry level market,” Mr Botha said.

“There are people here who want a high-quality product, and who want to live in Beenleigh and who see the future growth in it.”

Both homes offer two levels, four bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, two bathrooms, and living, dining and alfresco areas.

The main bedroom has an ensuite, and there is a secondary bathroom upstairs and a powder room downstairs.

The home is equipped with air-conditioning and a two-space garage.

Despite the duplexes being ideal for first-home buyers, Mr Both said, he had seen a lot of interest from “second and third homeowners looking for a big home without the maintenance of a full-sized block”.

“They are quite large duplexes, and we were inundated with interest,” Mr Botha said.

“I think we’ll definitely see more of this in the future, especially considering the price.”

The homes are valued at $700,000 each – a price Mr Botha said was “outstanding”.

“It’s really setting a precedent in Beenleigh, and it’s going to encourage a lot of new development in the area.

“We’ve managed the sales of that whole block – all the land and new build sales – and each time we’re setting a precedent with sale prices.”

He said those hoping to break into the market also had an interest in the duplexes.

“It’s a real mixed bag,” Mr Botha said.

“We’re seeing a lot of young families, people in their early-to-mid 20s and 30s, and a lot of parents hoping to get their kids their first home.”

Mr Botha said interest in the area was set to increase, especially considering infrastructure developments in the area.

He said the impacts of the Faster Rail, which will see Beenleigh station upgraded and relocated closer to the courthouse, would be great for those living near the CBD.

“Currently, the station is about 1km away, but the relocated train station will be only 500m away,” he said.
