Barbie sees if everyone’s okay

Workways is holding a free community barbecue in its Woodridge office this Thursday (Sep 8) from 12pm-2pm in support of national charity R U OK?

Workways Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers employment, environmental, youth and community services throughout eastern Australia.

They aim to connect people from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds to sustainable, long-term employment opportunities.

The Woodridge office supports parents, jobseekers on government payments, and people with disability, injury and illness into employment by providing mentoring, job-readiness skills training and connections to local employers.

“We believe asking ‘are you okay?’ is something we can all do every day to make a difference,” team member Mihi Waihape said.

“This day helps to raise the profile of the R U Ok? Day concept and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, so come along for a free snag and a chat.”

Established in 1989, Workways provides employment, youth, community and environmental services to assist the long term unemployed to obtain and retain employment or participate in further training and education.

Workways’ mission is to deliver positive economic, social and environmental benefits to the community by enabling people to participate in the workforce, develop their potential and contribute to society. Workways pride themselves on connecting the right people with the right employer.

Workways is a service partner of CoAct, a national network of locally embedded community service providers working together to create social and economic opportunities for Australia’s disadvantaged.

Workways delivers a variety of Federal and State Government funded employment services designed to get people into the workforce.
