Attempted murder arrest in relation to alleged Waterford West shooting

A MAN was charged with attempted murder this afternoon following an alleged shooting yesterday (Wednesday, September 7).

Detectives charged a Heritage Park man, aged 22, after an arrest at a Waterford West address.

He was also charged with having a shortened firearm.

The man has so far been denied police bail and will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates court tomorrow.

The case began in a shroud of mystery when a youth, aged 17, was taken to Logan Hospital emergency department with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He is now in a Brisbane hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Police will allege the pair knew each other.

There is no ongoing threat to the community.

Detectives declared a crime scene at a Mark Lane, Waterford West property Wednesday afternoon, where they believe the alleged shooting occurred.

A vehicle of interest, a grey Subaru hatchback, was also located at Princess Street, Marsden, overnight.

Police are continuing to appeal to any witnesses – or anyone who may have captured dash-camera footage – in the vicinity of Mark Lane, Waterford West, Logan Hospital and Princess Street, Marsden between midnight and 2am on Wednesday September 7 to come forward.

Investigations continue.
