Anybody want to swap?

Looking for a sea change in an area as far away from Logan as you could get without having to fly abroad?

Keen on golf, camping, fishing and great wine?

A couple from Western Australia’s southern beach town of Albany wants to swap with someone from the Logan area for about six months.

Marianne Chester says her house in Albany was built as a display home about 20 years ago and has all the mod cons including solar and security on a 900 square metre block.

“We’d like to spend time with our children in Greenbank and Mt Tamborine, so we’re looking for someone who might be able to swap with us for a while,” she said.

“We’re fairly flexible about what type of home we move into. Even a unit would be okay as we intend to be out and about most of the time.”

Ms Chester says her gardens are easy care, and she has garden sheds. Her block is opposite a creek, they have friendly and helpful neighbours and are close to shops.

“We’d prefer to swap with mature aged people, or someone with no small children. A small dog or cat outside would be okay,” she said.

Anyone embracing the sea change however, might have some very big shoes to fill.

“We are active volunteers having been awarded Senior Citizens of Year 2020, plus winning  a state award for council for recycling from land fill,” Ms Chester said.

They’re members of the golf club, Probus, Albany Art Group, Red Hats, the theatre, library and radio country music station.

One of their daughters recently retired as the longest serving police woman in the area after 42 years.

Getting the itch to move? Albany has regional towns nearby to explore, and Perth is about 400km away.

The weather is mild coastal conditions year-round and it is a prolific agricultural region, settled in 1826.
