THERE’S a rustic country cottage with some unusual features, including a view of the Birnam Range Reserve and its own mob of friendly kangaroos.
The four-bedroom house is more than a family home, it’s private oasis in the middle of Jimboomba.
Located on Mona Drive, the living area has a cosy fireplace, and there’s a wraparound veranda.
Owner Michelle Ward purchased the home in 2013, after falling in love with its unique features.
“We were first attracted to the giant veranda to entertain on, but my favourite feature of the home is the glass windows and doors which bring nature inside,” she said.
Ms Ward’s 11.5-acre property backs on to the Birnam Range Reserve with access to walking tracks with mountain top views and horse trails.
In the backyard there are three private dams, entertaining areas with firepits, an outdoor shower and a small, powered studio with stunning views of the property adjacent to the main home.
“The studio was built for my kids to hang out in, and it’s fully powered so it could be used for an office or for a painting or yoga studio,” Ms Ward said.
“There are so many kangaroos in our backyard and whether you’re sitting out on the wraparound veranda or in the studio it’s just a nice place to watch nature in tranquil surrounds.”
Inside the home resembles a rustic country cottage with French timber doors and original hardwood flooring throughout, as well as cathedral high ceilings, but has all the modern finishes.
“I love how unique the house is, and the beautiful high exposed ceilings,” Ms Ward said.
“It’s so rustic and I have styled it perfectly to fit in with that theme.”
The property is located 10 minutes from Jimboomba township, but Ms Ward says it is still “peaceful and quiet.”
“I feel like we have been living in a retreat for 10 years, we will really miss it,” she said.
“I don’t have one curtain or blind up in the house because it is completely private, like our own private resort.”
“To the new owners, I hope you enjoy all the beauty of the house and property inside and out.”
Other features of the property include solar power, three large water tanks and a five-bay powered shed with additional storage space.
