Alleged farm murder unfolds

A local mum was allegedly murdered by her husband at their farm in Woodhill last week.

It is alleged the 41-year-old woman was hit by a tractor slasher on the morning of Thursday 15 February.

Police allege the 44-year-old man then “tampered” with his wife’s body.

“There were some observations that our investigators made on our initial triage of the scene that gave us concerns that there may have been some manipulation of the crime scene,” detective inspector Chris Knight said.

The couple share two teenage children and Det Insp Knight said they were not home at the time of the incident.

“I don’t say this lightly: our thoughts go out to them at the moment,” he said.

“We’re providing as much support as we can, and we are greatly assisted by the Queensland Homicide Victim Support Group.

“The two children are well supported at the moment from family who have travelled from interstate.”

Det Insp Knight said the husband called emergency services at around 9.30am and claimed there had been an accident.

“Essentially he reported that his wife had passed away and there were some limited follow up questions that were fed to him from the QAS operators to try and assess her condition,” he said.

He said it was a “complex crime scene”, meaning forensic investigators would be at the property for “a number of days or longer”.

Det Insp Knight said there were a number of specialist divers searching the Undullah Road property’s many dams, but he refused to say what they were searching for.

The husband was charged with domestic violence murder and interfering with a corpse.

“We have an autopsy and post-mortem examination we’ll be undertaking at the first opportunity,” Det Insp Knight said.

“The forensic examination, which is part of our examination of the scene, will be going on for as long as it takes, and they’ll be supported by the physical searches.

“Accompanied with that is looking into their network of associates, families, friends, and that is ongoing.”
