I’m sure all of you reading this would appreciate Logan’s rich multicultural tapestry. It’s one of our city’s proudest strengths.
There are 217 cultures currently represented in Logan, and that’s something we all should take heart in.
Because our differences make us stronger, our unique stories filled with learnings for each other.
And our community is a caring one, the home to so many who work every day to improve the lives of others.
The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s Celebrating Multicultural Queensland Program is about tapping into that energy and sharing it widely for all of us to benefit from.
Through our latest round of funding, more than $800,000 will help fund 101 events across our state.
Just take this snapshot from Logan to see the value of our investment in multicultural events: Waitangi at Twilight, Myanmar New Year, Africa Month, the Creswalk fun run, Into Global Rhythms Fest, and Logan Multicultural Month.
All these awesome local events will be boosted by our government, allowing them to reach the most people and benefit more local businesses.
I want to acknowledge the great work of everyone involved with these events and others like them.
The list of individuals is too long to fit in this newsletter, but it’s important to be reminded just how fortunate and supported we are in Logan when it comes to promoting multiculturalism and strengthening local unity.
The positive impact of multicultural celebrations in our community cannot be overstated, and our government will continue providing funding avenues for groups to tap into.
This is another way we’re shaping an inclusive state that welcomes all, arms open.
