Beenleigh families will have the chance to enjoy a day of old-fashioned fun this winter with the Teddy Bears Picnic and Family Fun Day bringing crafts and community connection to the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum.
This event invites families to bring their favourite teddy bears and enjoy a day filled with activities, local history and plenty of memory making opportunities.
The Teddy Bears Picnic and Family Fun Day aims to bring families together through fun games and activities and celebrate the charm of the Beenleigh Historical Village.
Set among the historic buildings of the Village, the event offers a unique opportunity for children to experience the past while enjoying a range of modern family activities.
Event organiser Tiffany Smith said the event was going to be a great day out for families wanting to get out of the house and away from technology for a few hours.
“It’s a great day out for kids especially, and for adults to be kids again. To bring their favourite stuffed friends down to play some games,” Ms Smith said.
Community events are becoming an important way for locals to connect, and organisers hope the day will encourage families to spend some quality time together and discover one of Beenleigh’s local treasures.
There will be lots of activities designed to keep children of all ages entertained.
“This year we’ll have three fire trucks. So, we’ve got our two old ones and then the Queensland Fire Brigade’s also bringing one down for a while,” Ms Smith said.
“We’ve also got a cop car coming down for them and we’re going to be releasing our first scavenger hunt,” Ms Smith said.
Families can enjoy a Teddy Bears Picnic session, meet farm animals, have their faces painted and explore market stalls which feature local business and makers.
Guests can also go back in time through exploring the Historical Village’s heritage buildings, art gallery and museum displays throughout the day.
While the event is focused on family fun, it highlights the importance of preserving and sharing Beenleigh’s history with younger generations.
Events like the Teddy Bears Picnic help to introduce children to history in an interactive way, allowing them to learn while creating positive memories with their families.
“It makes me happy that people are coming together to celebrate things that they don’t normally do these days.”
The Teddy Bears Picnic and Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, 11 July at the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum, giving locals the perfect opportunity to enjoy a family day out close to home.
Whether visiting the Historical Village for the first time or returning as a regular, the event celebrates the simple joys of spending time together and discovering what makes the local community special.
